Dear Teacher,

We hope that you and your students will find this Keyboard Kids for Kindness Practice Challenge helpful in establishing and reinforcing good practice habits. At the same time, we hope to encourage students to become more civic-minded by learning about charitable organizations, how they can help out by being creative with their time and hard work, and how they can help encourage others to be more civic-minded.

Please find the following support materials on this web site:

  1. Sponsor Introduction Letter
Introduces the program and helps the student to spread the word about the benefits of piano study.
  2. Chart A Keeps a record of sponsor names and pledges. Helps the student to establish a practice goal for each day, and a suggested unit of practice time for sponsorship.
  3. Chart B Keeps a log of practice goals and actual practice achieved.
  4. Student Report To send back to Clavier Companion along with Chart B

Please note that in these troubled economic times, we are especially mindful of emphasizing effort on the student’s part. Because our readers represent a wide variety of communities and economic climates, we will not report dollars pledged or donated. We are interested in emphasizing the value of participation and reporting the amount of piano practice achieved by the student.

There are many worthwhile charities the student and his parents may wish to support. If they ask for some suggestions, you may wish to direct them to one of the many charities known for their support of the arts or to an arts organization.

Good luck to you and your students!
